Influences: Growing up in rural Tennessee in the 80's. Driftwood and pine knots. A musical family. Psychologically analytical parents. The Tascam Portastudio. Going away to school. The apparent absurdity of it all. Mix tapes. Love and loss of love. A desire to be understood, and to contribute something of value to people just like YOU. music- Marshmallow Coast, Loudon Brothers (especially the really scary apocalyptic stuff), Lefty Frizzel, Little Wings, Ween, Of Montreal, Kinks, Kimya Dawson, Hank Williams Sr., Zombies, Beatles, early Pink Floyd, Daniel Johnston, Flaming Lips, Neutral Milk Hotel, Woodie Guthrie, Carter Family, Beck, Brian Eno, Talking Heads, Pixies, Thurston Moore, Sun Ra, Avant Slant (John Benson Brooks), Quasi, Grandaddy, etc.
Sounds Like: I need to buy some bandwidth. Your interpretation is much more important than my intention, but I would like to make songs that will stir up some sort of resonance inside you. Or make you laugh. Or both.
