Lacrime Amorose is a new baroque ensemble specialising in music from Italy and England in the 17th century. Our name (meaning Amorous Tears), embodies both the Pleasures and Pains of love; just as the music which we perform portrays both joy and suffering, typical of 17th century love songs.
Lacrime Amorose perform songs and instrumental music by well-known composers Purcell, Dowland, Morley, Monteverdi, Frescobaldi and Caccini as well as lesser known composers Kapsberger, d'India, Castaldi, Strozzi & Mazzocchi.
Formed in 2003, while the members were studying at the Royal Conservatoire, Den Haag they have given concerts throughout The Netherlands. The members come from New Zealand, England and Czech Republic and individually have performed and recorded with some of Europe's leading baroque ensembles, working with Christina Pluhar, Gabriel Garrido, Mike Fentross, Nigel North, Michael Chance and Andrew Lawrence-King.
