SAMSARA THEATRE COMPANYThe mission of Samsara Theatre Company is to produce both new plays and works that are established, with an emphasis on lesser-known but quality pieces.Samsara Theatre Company was founded by Executive Director Linnea Peery and Artistic Director Jason Kane as a means to showcase the incredible talent not yet discovered by the New York theatre scene. The ensemble of 30 consists of actors, writers, directors, singers, dancers, producers, stage managers, designers, and more.Samsara provides ensemble members a home in which to create fresh, exciting work to contribute to New York’s theater scene. New plays will either be (1) created by Samsara’s talented ensemble of writers, actors, directors and producers, or (2) submitted by playwrights (from within or outside the Company). Samsara's productions will incorporate as many artistic disciplines as possible, from dance and movement to visual art and sound.The SeasonEach season of Samsara will include new pieces as well as high-quality established plays that are not often produced. The established plays will be announced at the beginning of the season, and performances of new pieces will be announced after they have been given adequate time to “gestate.”What is "Samsara"?Samsara, Sanskrit for “flow together,” refers to humanity’s process of birth, death, and grappling with everything that happens in between. Samsara Theatre Company believes that theater illuminates this universal human struggle, and we will strive to illustrate this both in process and in performance.
