Is this the ghost of majestic scene?majestic scene was formed at Cobbenhagen College Tilburg in october 1989 by Rob van Rijswijk and Joop van der Kuip. At the end of those cold, plastic and barren 80's - when rock 'n roll was almost declared dead and out of fashion - they thought it was time for a band who would fuse the flavours of Neil Young and Pink Floyd and serve it with a pinch of Led Zeppelin. Not with the intention to become a mere retro band, but only with the desire to be part of a long tradition. To stand on the shoulders of giants and to see how far the horizon would reach. And majestic scene is still admiring the view.
Since those very early days majestic scene has come a long way. After releasing three demo tapes and the release of the much admired EP 'bite the lemon instead of the orange' they were singed by indie label elegy from Amsterdam. In 1997 the album 'dry liver's teaspoon' was released of which the epic song 'my land' was an instant underground succes.
The year 1999 saw the birth of their 'decade' album marking majestic scene's 10th anniversary. At a festival in the legendary razzle dazzle club during the BERLIN TOUR that same fall, they came under the eager eyes and ears of the Berlin vinyl label nasoni records .
nasoni records released the album 'firy laugh' in 2001. The record was issued on bright orange vinyl in a double sleeve and contained previously unreleased material together with the best tracks of 'bite the lemon instead of the orange', 'dry liver's teaspoon' and the 'decade' album. That same year majestic scene booked some time in 'the void' - the studio of the much revered motorpsycho sound engineer pieter kloos - to record a promo EP, which was released in 2002.

the void was booked again in 2003 to record new material. Together with some home recordings and outdoor stuff recorded in Wysli, Switserland, these tracks were released on the album 'soulcorruption' by the Dutch indie label my first sonny weissmuller recordings in november 2004. 'soulcorruption' was also released by nasoni records on lemon green vinyl.
Currently majestic scene is in the process of recording. Some 10 new songs have emerged over time and are nearing their completion. The final result might well be released again on a new album painted in majestic scene's sound pallet of warm and dark tones. Though more intimate, introspective and subdued than ever before majestic scene's new songs will be as compelling as they've always been.
