About Me

Alright, so here's more than you need to know about me. I started playing electric bass at age fifteen. Got a Bachelor of Music in jazz studies at Capital University, where I studied electric and upright bass with Doug Richeson (bassist for a number of years with Tony Bennet), Jeff Ciampa, and Lou Fischer. While in college, I managed to work my way into the Columbus, OH jazz scene, where I stayed for a number of years (shout out to all my homies in C-bus). After spending a year in Montana ('twas awesome), I moved to Boston ('tis also awesome), where I continue to pursue an active schedule of performing, recording, composing, and teaching. My musical career has taken me on tours of Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, the Czech Republic, and Japan. I'm also a faculty member at the University of Maine in Augusta and Bowdoin College, where I teach private bass lessons.
I have my own trio (featured in the recordings above, with a newly released CD called Sinistral and gigs coming soon, stay tuned). That's with Kyle Aho on piano and Mike Connors on drums.
And I'm in a band called Iskar with Phil Sargent, Jerry Sabatini, and Mike Connors. Jerry leads a group called Sonic Explorers that I play with as well.
Also in a group w/Jerry Sabatini and Chris Veilleux called Roving Soul.
The aforementioned Mike Connors and I play w/Funkhouse, a trio led by John Funkhouser.
In addition, I'm the bassist in the Yoko Miwa trio.
And avant-klezmer group Klezwoods, as well.
And sometimes get into some roots ruckus with The Rex Complex.
Oh, yeah, and there's this band called Rhombus led by Brian Freidland with Mike Connors, Phil Sargent, Sean Berry, and Aubrey Johnson; I play with that group too.
I guess that's about it for specific groups I play with regularly... for now at least.
Also, I'm available for interesting, good paying, high profile gigs (or, frankly, any combination of the three). Same goes for recording.
