Rassa, Rassa, Rassarella

Biography of Daniel Riley aka, Passarella / RassarellaDaniel Riley a.k.a., Rassarella now a solo selector / Dj born in Jamaica on October 8, 1972 a son of Ralston and Enez Riley. The eighth of nine brothers and sisters.My early education started at Galilee Basic School then the Rollington Town Primary School. I graduated in 1984 and began attending Excelsior High School until the year 1989. Prior to leaving Excelsior, I started to play a sound system by the name of Road Master in the same year. After leaving High School I continued to play with various Sound Systems on weekends at Parties, Dances etc.In the year 1990, I started playing with Blackstone Disco a champion Sound System out of East Kingston which was a more established sound than Road Master, in fact one of the Elite Sound System of the 80’s and early 90’s where I played in a lot more parties and sound clashes with some of the top sounds like Inner City, Body Guard, Lees Unlimited etc.In the summer of the year 1991 I left Blackstone and began playing Super T a sound system from Portmore St Catherine traveling the length and breadth of Jamaica. In the spring of 1992 I left Super T and began to playing with a sound from West Kingston by the name of Transtar Disco, where I continued to travel to different venues all over Jamaica. It wasn’t too long before I moved on to another sound system where I was allowed to be more creative. This sound system was the mighty Emperor Sound. In the year ending December 1992 I spent most of my sound system career traveling to different parts of Jamaica in a quest to establish Emperor that saw a lot more clashes with top sounds like Killamanjaro, Bass Odessey, 4 x 4 Exodus, Inner City, Travellers, Black Cat and many more.Selector Passarella a.ka. Passa with Emperor saw more venues juggling alone to a full house & sometimes in parties or dance with top systems like Stone Love, Afrique Sound Station from new york, Metro Media, Jam Rock, Travellers etc, this continued until December 1999 when I decided to leave Emperor.In the spring of the year 2000 I started to play Metro Media, it was after leaving Metro Media in the same year then I decided to start my career as a solo selector Passarella. Since the establishment of my solo career the years saw Passarella being internationalized traveling the Caribbean from Jamaica to played music in Cayman Island, Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, & Trinidad. These shows featured artist such as The Marleys, Morgan Heritage, Capleton, Freddie McGregor, George Nooks, Buju Banton, Glen Washington, Sizzla, Spragga Benz, Junior Ried, Warrior King, Jah Marli, Cobra and many more. As a solo selector I began to take my career to another level and was drafted by Tuff Gong International to perform on their Annual Reggae All Star Show in the Bahamas and since then I have worked on their subsequent shows throughout the Caribbean.Passarella aka Rassarella gets the shows started by entertaining the crowd before the major acts of these shows and during the bands change playing hits after hits. I also at times introduce the next act to be on stage in the most versatile way on many occasions and would DJ a song or two for the fans just to show my versitility. In 2005 I started recording on dub plates & tracks as Rassarella. The name Rassarella was created in the same time when i began to develop a personal relationship with rastafari it was then we saw the need for rassarella instead of passarella.
