About Me

My passion is Inayan Eskrima and though everything about me revolves around that, I am a mere tour guide in the scheme of things. I consider myself a very fortunate person as I have learned much from a great man, seen the world, know my reason in this quick bleep called life and have many true Warriors that call me brother. Below is a description of the art that is the vehicle to our truth...
Eskrima is a beautiful martial art that originated in the Philippines. It is the national sport of the Philippines, and has a very long history of combat effectiveness. One difference from other martial arts is that the student is taught to train with weapons from the very start, rather than beginning with empty-hands training. The Filipino Martial Arts ingrain an interrelationship between empty-hand skills and weapons, and because of this philosophy, Eskrima is widely recognized in the martial arts community for its extreme practicality and effectiveness.

Inayan Eskrima is a complete martial art system, founded by Mangisursuro Mike G. Inay. As part of this system we study several styles of Eskrima, but we focus on three "core styles": Inayan Kadena de Mano, Inayan Serrada, and Inayan Largo Mano. Having these three styles that cover three separate ranges, and being able to flow between them effortlessly, is the key to balancing out Inayan Eskrima.

About the ISE -
The ISE (Inayan School of Eskrima) is proud to be the longest running and most established Inayan Eskrima institution in the world .

Training at the Inayan School of Eskrima is conducted by Tagaturo Klement, who was trained and ranked directly by the late Suro Mike Inay. Lahong Guro Mike Klement, Guro Brad Hill, Katalungan Guro James Earles, Katalungan Guro Michael Barnes and Katalungan Guro Joe Walls assist in teaching the students of the Inayan School of Eskrima under the direction of Tagaturo Klement.

The ISE is co-located in Knoxville, TN and Pittsburgh, PA. We welcome all men, women, and young adults (12 or older) with a sincere interest in the Martial Arts to join our Eskrima classes.

ISE Details -
The ISE was established in Knoxville, TN in 1995 by Tagaturo Steve Klement to propagate and preserve Inayan Eskrima as taught to him directly by the founder of Inayan Eskrima, Mangisursuro Michael G. Inay. The "core" styles of Inayan Eskrima (Inayan; Kadena de Mano, Serrada and Largo Mano) are the foundation of each ISE Guro's teaching and creative energy. It is our goal to provide a safe and informative training environment to our students and guests and at the same time pass on the concepts and principles of the entire system of Inayan Eskrima.

ISE Membership -
As the ISE continues to grow we are happy to consider ISE Student applications. If you would like to inquire about classes and enrollment, we welcome you to watch a class and/or see a demonstration. You will also meet with an Instructor. If one is accepted within the ranks of the ISE they will quickly see that our training is done as a "family". Please feel free to call (865.599.1005) and set-up a time to visit the ISE...
