LOU-d CAGE

The group of percussions LOU-d CAGE takes its name from two brilliant composers/researchers of experimental music and minimalist music: Lou Harrison and John Cage.
Born in March 1999 by the initiative of three enthusiasts of ethnic percussion instruments, LOU-d CAGE is a connection between the traditional music streams and natural improvisation. LOU-d CAGE is characterised by its constant experimentation: it is its main feature and goal.
The constant use of ethnic instruments and unusual sonorous objects gave origin to a fusion between ancient and modern rhythms and to a great voice, confirming what the first investigator manifested: EVERYTHING IS SOUND.
Living from this firm conviction, LOU-d CAGE proposes a repertoire in continuous evolution, rich in textures and gestures, consciously based on the characteristics of timbre of every single instrument and on the inventiveness of every member of the group.
LOU-d CAGE has already participated in numerous festivals that of music and contemporary arts. The group has participated and perform in internationally known festivals of Street Music and in concerts supporting Charities.
In July 2005, the Group won the prestigious Popular prize of the International Competition of the Musicians of the Road held in Matadepera (Spain). In July 2006, the group won the other prestigious prize of the same competition: Rodamon prize.
