Su formación guitarristica comienza con la profesora Clara Nicola Romero y Roberto Kessell. En 1993 se gradúa del Instituto Superior de Arte (I.S.A.) bajo la tutela del maestro Jesús Ortega y es reconocido como el graduado más destacado en el trabajo artístico creador de su generación. Durante sus estudios, Espinás es galardonado en concursos organizados por la Dirección de Ensenanza Artística de Cuba (D.E.A.) la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba (U.N.E.A.C.), asimismo participa en conciertos organizados por Juventudes Musicales en los festivales internacionales de guitarra de La Habana. Ha incursionado en el campo de la composición obteniendo premios nacionales e internacionales. Su obra LABERINTOS para cuarteto de guitarras es premiada en Islas Canarias y llevada al acetato por la firma cubana de discos E.G.R.E.M. La Editora Musical de Cuba posee en su catálogo algunas de sus obras. Se ha presentado como solista en Italia, España, Venezuela y México y en el GFA Guitar Festival (E.U.A.), dirigiendo el Ensemble de Guitarras de Paracho. Ha tocado con la Orquesta Sinfónica de Valencia (final del concurso Tárrega 1993); Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México; Orquesta Sinfónica de Matanzas (Cuba); Orquesta Sinfónica de Camagüey (Cuba); Ensemble de Cámara de la UDLA-P. Su arte ha sido escuchado en el Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Cuernavaca; Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara en la Ciudad de Morelia; Foro Internacional de Música Nueva “Manuel Enríquez” (estrenando obra propia); Feria Internacional de la Guitarra en Paracho, Michoacán; Ciclo Internacional de Guitarra” La Guitarra Hoy”; Semana internacional de la Guitarra (U.N.A.M.), Festival Internacional de Guitarra “Radio Nuevo León” en Monterrey, todos ellos en México, y en el Festival Internacional de Guitarra de La Habana, por sólo mencionar algunos. Entre sus premios se encuentran: • Premio a la mejor interpretación de la obra de Francisco Tárrega en el XXVII Concurso Internacional de Guitarra “Francisco Tárrega”- Benicasim – España – 1993 • Tercer premio y cuatro premios especiales: premio a la maestría artística; premio “Paco Marín”; premio E.G.R.E.M. y premio de la Editora Musical de Cuba, en el VI Concurso Internacional de Guitarra de La Habana – 1992 • Primer premio nacional de guitarra (en ejecución) – La Habana – 1992 • Primer premio en el Concurso para Ejecutantes de Guitarra – Paracho – Michoacán – 1995 • Premio U.N.E.A.C. de composición – 1990 • Segundo premio en el Concurso Internacional de Guitarra “Kukulcan” – Chiapas – México – 1999 Espinás ha tomado clases magistrales de interpretación con Leo Brouwer, David Russell , Michael Lorimer , Flavio Cucchi y Costas Cotsiolis y de composición con Harold Gramatges y Tulio Peramo. Graba para la radio cubana y de México.En el año 2003 es acreedor a la beca del Fondo estatal para la cultura y las artes del Estado de Puebla para ofrecer 12 cursos destinados a mejorar las técnicas de estudios de los futuros profesionales de la interpretación.De 1998 al 2004 dirige la Escuela de Guitarra del CIDEG (Centro para la Investigación y Desarrollo de la Guitarra) en Paracho, Michoacán.Actualmente es becario del FONCA Nacional y por tal motivo ofrecerá doce conciertos dedicados a interpretar los Estudios más relevantes escritos para el instrumento. Manuel Espinás reside en la Ciudad de Puebla.
