Hello, my name is David Vincola. This page represents me as an NYC based freelance drummer/percussionist.When I was ten years old growing up in Boston, MA the band director at my elementary school came to my classroom and gave a short demo on each of the major band instruments and set them out for the class to try out and possibly continue on with lessons. After the demonstration I picked up the flute and within a few minutes of not being able to get it to make a sound my short attention span persuaded me to consider another instrument. Gathering upon my musical influences thus far to that date I thought to myself "Mmm... What instrument did Animal from the Muppets play in the band? Ah-ha! The drums!"Fast forward to today and my musical journey has taken me across the country and around the world. After spending some time at the University of Miami School of Music and accidentally graduating with a degree in studio music and jazz, I returned to my hometown of Boston to attend The Boston Conservatory and Berklee College of Music. I have since toured the U.S. and Europe with Broadway shows and rock bands. I have travelled by water to many (too many to name) exotic destinations while performing on cruise ships. At one point in a nomadic stage in my musical career I began to call New York City home and since then I have subbed on Broadway shows, performed uptown in Carnegie Hall, downtown at CBGB's, and as many venues in between as possible. At Various points in my musical career I have found myself performing onstage with Stevie Wonder, Diana Krall, Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones, and John Williams. Some of my favorite and most inspirational and influential mentors have been: Pat Hollenbeck (Boston Pops Orchestra, Boston Conservatory, orchestrator), Fred Buda (Boston Pops), Steve Rucker (Bee Gees, University of Miami), and John Clayton (Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Diana Krall). In the not so distant future I hope to have my own position as a drummer on a broadway show, tour with a popular artist, write and produce my own Off-Broadway show, produce and record music for multi-media projects such as film, video, dance productions, theater, etc. and do some studio and live projects in collaboration with other artists as a drummer/percussionist and/or arranger/producer.I am a passionate and determined person. I am obsessively organized. I am a team player and when, and only when, asked, have the ability to step up and be an excellent leader. I consider myself a punk. I am independent. The only "sports" I enjoy watching are skateboarding and BMX. I have a vast knowledge of many musical genres. I have set foot on five different continents and hope to make it seven before I die. Everything that happens to me in real life I relate back to a movie and I often quote them. I was born by cesarian. I am a textbook Taurus.
