Evangelina is comprised of five southern boys who love to play music and believe in giving their all to make it happen. Evangelina has suffered through a lot of unfortunate circumstances over the past year. Member changes, musical differences, sketchy investors, a failed attempt to make a record, and heavy tour schedule, just to name a few things, have taken a toll on the band. 2007 was Evangelina’s year to experiment with record labels and full time touring. Things don’t always work out like you intend.
The band began touring as a four piece. February found them signing to an indie label called RedwallMusic. A good friend (Kolby) was traveling with the band at that time. He was helping out with the driving responsibilities, supplying the transportation for the tour and manning the merchandise table. Later Kolby became the second guitarist and toured regularly. After losing a couple original members shortly after all of this, the band finished a short tour, again as a four piece, and took a few weeks off to find a replacement drummer and guitarist. Evangelina took the road again late summer. By this time they took it upon themselves to spend a few weekends recording with Simon Hebert of Infinite Studios in Houma, LA. The band was set to record a full length album with Simon but ended up only recording three songs. RedwallMusic set up Ryan Adkins of Azmyth Studios in Indianapolis, IN to finish the record. The record took a turn for the worse when the investor for the record pulled out of the agreement at the end of the recording sessions. Evangelina was left with a record they could not pay for. Another setback happened when the band returned home. They lost their lead vocalist. A friend of the band became the fill-in vocalist for a short two week tour. Later, that fill-in vocalist became the full time vocalist, another new drummer and new guitarist were also implemented. Now, the band had to hit the practice room for a while to write new material and get the new members ready for shows.
After a few months of rehearsal, writing, finding new transportation, and recording new demos Evangelina was finally ready do start playing shows again and booking for regional tour dates. The band is so excited about the future. They are looking forward to playing shows, seeing fans and hanging out with all the other bands they love. Thanks for all of your support through the challenging times. Evangelina will see you soon.
