For the past four years The Widowed has wandered Southern California’s best and worst venues. Under the previous name "Astounding Roy Gorbisons" they played many of the upscale night clubs in Los Angeles and Hollywood such as The Key Club, Knitting Factory, and The Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana. They developed what news papers were calling “a cult following†at their monthly shows they would headline at the famous Showcase Theatre in Corona.
Singer/Song writer/ Guitarist Brandon Anderson has written more than 50 songs for the band with influence form bands such as The Damned, The Cramps, and other dark wave/Goth rock/ black metal/ rockabilly twists. Kicked out of his childhood home the day after he turned 18, he spent the next two years bathing in drugs from local rich kids while living in a 1975 Cadillac Hearse behind the Papa Johns Pizza on 19th and Carnelian st. in Rancho Cucamonga. When Anderson was fired from his humble job at the Papa Johns pizza(still living behind it in his funeral car) he took his last pay check and bought his orange Gretsch guitar. Today he is no longer homeless and is currently enrolled in Cypress College’s Mortuary Science Program.
Drummer/Song Writer Matt Biggs became legend in his hometown because of his unbelievable rhythmic abilities. Anyone that has ever had the honor of watching him play would tell you he is nothing short of godlike. Taught to play in junior high, his teacher knew what a prodigy he was. She however threw her self in front of a train the year after he went on to high school. Matt was also the Drum Capitan for Alta Loma High School’s drum line.
Bassist Matt Finkle is a long time childhood friend of Brandon’s. Together they would crash cars, steal cars, and roam the streets at night getting into all kinds of trouble. He was the high school heartthrob sneaking off into dark corners to get frisky with the popular guys girlfriends. One time he insisted on taking P.C.P. and engaged in a fist fight with one misfortunate individual whose little lady had strayed into Finkle’s love path. Matt has been playing both the upright double bass and the standard electric bass with Brandon for 7 years. Matt is currently working on a undergraduate degree in Sociology at Chaffey Community College.
Guitarist/Singer Jacob Samule is what most call insane. Stories of setting his genitals on fire or accounts of necrophilia are just a simple scratch on the surface. Raised by a stick Jewish father, Samule has now adopted very satanic views for the rest of his life. Trying to set American flags on fire in graveyards or smoking whatever his lesbian sister has to offer him is how he passes the time these days. His voice is a cross between Linda Blair’s from the Exorcist and Jesus Christ’s final screams on the cross.The Widowed are currently recording more material as usual and are currently looking for a record company to take them underneath their wings. Their shows are forever scared into the back of your brain and they are something no one could ever forget. The Widowed are positively fantastic.
