About Me

My new book... I’m a Greek author, journalist and screenwriter – a slightly frustrating combination because I write in greek, and that means my screenwriting career is very limited indeed. I mean, I do have ideas and write quite well, but the greek film/television production is very moussaka. In the sense that it’s small, messed-up and fried to the core. Yet it’s also fun sometimes: you get to do things with very little money, for very little money, and they don’t look as shitty as one might think. Books are ok too, once you realize that Greece is a small country so no book can ever sell more than, oh, 50.000 copies. The national newspaper sells 25.000, so that’s it. Anyway, in case anyone wants to pursue a career as a writer in Greece – take heart: you can always write some tv series, “noon-time tv” as we say here, and get lots of money. (Noon-time is when greeks take a nap. So. They all watch “you”, it’s just that they’re half asleep. But who cares.)

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Somebody who can help with the below:
Some time ago I had one of my books translated in english by a very prestigious translator (Karen Emmerich). I paid for the translation myself - what I earned from 2 telemovies' scripts - because that's the way things are done in Greece...and because I really want to get published in english. I read english/american books all the time, in fact I hardly ever read anything that has been translated to greek. And, well, it seemed like a good idea at the time.
Now I have to find an agent and then a publisher, so if you are either please contact me and we can talk business. It all sounds pretty desperate but it's not: I write in a bunch of magazins in Greece and I have another book coming out in March, and I'm working on a musical right now, so it's not like I'm sitting like a toad waiting for the phone to ring. But...I don't know how else to pursue this - the "getting a book published in the english language". So, wish me luck! And do try to become a writer in any other country except Greece!"
