I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am based in Vesterbro, a part of Copenhagen.Educated at The Danish School of Journalism in 1997 and work for a number of magazines, newspapers and radio channels.Specialized in music, especially world music, with an emphasis on music of the arab world and West Africa. I review music and travel a lot around the world.Recent projects have been The Police in Vancouver, Canada, Tom Waits outside of Petaluma, California, Norah Jones in London, Festival d'Essaouira in Morocco, Bruce Springsteen at Asbury Park, New Jersey.Spiritually I work with the gnawa of Morocco, where I am an adept aligned with the spirit of the ancient sufi mystic, Sheikh Abd Al Qadir al-Jilani, or as he is called in Morocco: Moulay Abdelkhader Jilali. I work with the gnawa, mostly with the masters Mahmoud & Mokhtar Gania of Essaouira and Ahmed Baqbou of Marrakesh.I participate at the annual leela (nights of trance) with the moqadeema Zeyda Gania in Essaouira during the holy month of Chaban, just like I do the pilgrimage each year during Mouloud Nabaoui (birthday of the Prophet Mohamed) to sufi shrines like Tamesloht & Moulay Brahim near Marrakesh and Sidi Ali near Meknes. I believe in the spiritual power and blessing of these pilgrimages, and choose to believe, that the spirits have chosen me.I will go deeper into this subject in my upcoming book on the Gnawa Culture. My spiritual path has originally been initiated back in 1981, when I became a disciple of the great master, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (1931-1990), also known as Osho, who gave me the name Swami Anand Sanjaya. I feel that my current presence with the sufi's of Morocco is due to my relation with this great master.Lastly I run a record label together with my friend and brother, Peter Chilton, called Standard Records. Not surprisingly we release sufi music of Morocco...check us out on www.standardrecords.dk
