About Me

my old profile was so excessively outdated... no offense belinda, but it was like staring at a different person's life... times they are a changing. i still love to drive, but i don't here at school. god do i miss my car. my mom is still a great cook, last time i checked. i am a junior at dickinson college. i love it. still not sure why. i am dancing again from time to time... couldn't stand to stay away. i play ultimate frisbee. (i don't smoke pot, though, so don't try to throw that stereotype at me. actually, i think if someone were a straight up pothead, they wouldn't be able to play well; it requires a lot of stamina.i work as a student project manager at the clarke center on campus (we bring speakers to campus, and each project manager is assigned an event; i write press releases, speaker bios and issues in context, i design posters and programs, and i introduce the speaker at the event). it sucks up an astounding amount of time, but i like it. i also started working in the writing center last semester. apparently i am good at shit like helping kids write better. who knew?i even kind of like the weather in pa. it is really cold sometimes, but snow is freaking awesome (given, it is still novel). i will admit, though, there were a few days where it was really warm, like 61, and there was a warm breeze, and i felt like i was home... that is the most i have been homesick for my socal weather recently. mostly i just swear at the cold when it gets really bad... the walk to goodyear in 15 degrees temperatures was not comfortable.also, i pledged a sorority. i am now a theta who plays frisbee and does theater. i am also an english major with a minors in math and spanish. thus the walking contradiction bit.i just got back from a month in london. i am going through withdrawals... i am actually sad that i have to drive everywhere, and the cars look a little odd back on the right side of the road.i am going to spain next semester... malaga, baby! it's going to be amazing... if i ever get a visa.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

someone genuine.

Music:

My taste in music is best described as ecclectic... I listen to just about anything (even musicals and the occasional opera), except really twangy country (can't stand it, drives me crazy) and rock groups that scream all the words (i like to understand what i am hearing, though there are some exceptions to this dislike). I listen to mostly rock, especially classic rock, among other things. Oldies are my comfort music... when i am depressed, kearth is the radio station of choice. Recently I have gotton really into Flogging Molly... among others. Just a random (but incomplete) list of bands/singers/groups: Blink-182, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Queen, The Rolling Stones, Green Day, Silvertide, the Supremes, Billy Idol, Janice Joplin, Journey, KISS, 3 Dog Night, Styx, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Modest Mouse, Louis Armstrong, Led Zeppelin, the Killers, the Beatles, the Eagles, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, the Cure, the Darkness, Aerosmith, Bad Company, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, etc.

Movies:

Random listing of favorite movies, in no particular order: Good Will Hunting, The Philadelphia Story, Almost Famous, Dead Poet's Society, The Princess Bride, The Birdcage, Homeward Bound, Shawshank Redemption, Sabrina (the old one, with Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart, no teenage witches involved), Clueless, A Little Romance, Some Like It Hot, Newsies, Titanic, etc. I love romance, adventure, and underdog-comes-out-on-top stories. For some reason i adore every movie i've seen made from a comic book. I still really like old movies; TCM is one of my favorite channels, though more recently, television has almost completely disappeared from my life (not a bad thing, I assure you).

Television:

television? what is that? oh, wait, i think i remember... vague thoughts of a black box... with moving pictures... oh, wow. yeah, i don't have a tv in my room, so i kind of don't watch anything right now beyond the occasional movie. or dead like me... i have the first season on dvd.

Books:

Favorite book of all time: Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen. I managed not to let studying it in English ruin my love, thank God.

Heroes:

god, i don't know. there are so many people i respect and admire and truely appreciate... but to call them my heroes? i do have some people who i guess are heroes in my life... family, friends, but to attempt to list them all... well, use your imagination, kids.
