Signal To Noise

About Me

We want everyone to spare a thought for our drummer Darren Healy who was in a serious motorbike accident on the 3rd of october in drogheda. Darren is currently in the mater hospital with serious spinal injuries. We appreciate your support for the family and friends of Darren at this very difficult and emotional time.Signal to Noise are a heavy blues rock band based in Drogheda, Ireland. As the band members each bring their own musical tastes, influences from as far ranging as blues to electronica to metal to jazz can be heard in songs which cross many genres at once.

The result is music laced with blues licks and off kilter heavy grooves to create a noisey, catchy, melodic jungle!

Music:

Band Website: http://Air1712.bebo.com
Band Members: Niamh Mullen - Lead Vocals/Harmonica
Niamh is a scary individual who likes to abuse, use and smile innocently back while sucking her thumb. She brings her pop sensibilities and aggressive feline tendencies to the band while cutting your head off with her rockin' blues vocal lines!
Currently Listening To: The Script - The Script, Grinderman - Grinderman, A Homemade Collection Of Cheesy Nineties Dance Hits Popular Only In Hungary - Cheesy Nineties Dance Acts, Bob Dylan - Essentials
Andy McDonagh - Guitar/Vocals
Andy writes riffs from heaven while running across the stage like a man possessed by a higher force. When you hear strange, unearthly sounds from the right side of the stage, that's probably his doing.
Currently Listening To: Room For Squares and Continuum - John Mayer, ALL Hope Is Gone - Slipknot, Vs. - Pearl Jam
Darren Healy - Drums
Darren (A.K.A Healy) will pound out the heaviest of metal drum beats until dawn and will only stop for anything involving motorbikes (or for a cup of tea). Not only that, but this man can do a one man Father Ted show and ride his two wheeled monster very, very fast all at the same time.
Currently Listening To: Avenged Sevenfold - Avenged Sevenfold, Blood Mountain - Mastodon, Vapor Trails - Rush, Grand National - John Butler Trio
Barry Morgan - Bass/Vocals
Barry is the backbone, the centre of gravity, the pendulum of Signal To Noise. This man can play any character and groove any situation on his bass guitar but still bring a new element every time, a master of disguise if you will. He blends in until he hits you with that huge bass line that makes you shiver in guilty satisfaction from the lower groin area.
Currently Listening To: The Dark Knight Soundtrack - Hanz Zimmer & James Newton Howard, Yield - Pearl Jam, Renegades - Rage Against The Machine, Caught In The Act - Micheal Buble
Jack Ledwith - Guitar/Vocals
The guy who won't stop writhing and swaying all over the shop while screaming out bluesy leads is Jack. He just likes to mess your head up from the inside, no one knows how destructive he is, but he wont stop at anything to deny the audience of normal rhythms, as long as they stay wholly unaware of it as their brain slowly melts.
Currently Listening To: White Denim - White Denim, Grinderman - Grinderman, Abbatoir Blues - Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Live In Tokyo - Stevie Ray Vaughan, Orphans - Tom Waits
Honourary Members:
Nigel Black - The Birth Of Cool.
Ben Kelly Maloney - Friend, Compatriot, Photographer, Literary Adviser & Provider.
Influences: Pearl Jam, John Butler Trio, John Mayer, Rush, Jimi Hendrix, Rage Against The Machine, Led Zepplin, Green Day, John Coltrane, Bob Dylan, Metallica, Nick Cave, Radiohead, Tool, QOTSA, The Beatles, Muddy Waters, Mastodon, Marvin Gaye, Garth Brooks, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Slipknot, Soundgarden, Tom Waits, Avenged Sevenfold, The Mars Volta, Rory Gallagher, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink, Paul Simon, Josh Ritter, Brad Mehldau, Harrybu McCage, cheesy eighties and nineties dance tunes, The Lord Of The Rings, Nintendo, Magnetic Impulses, Sex, Magic, Jelly Beans, Tea, Biscuits, Father Ted.
Signal To Noise's Song Writing Process:
A Special Thanks To:
Eimear McKeown for the band pics, Ben for live videos and photography and Nanette and Colman for all the tea and biscuits that will keep us inspired long into these forthcoming autumn evenings and have done so in the past.
Sounds Like: A catchy inferno of melodic zest.
