According to some sources, the band name was coined by Joachim ThÃ¥ström during a recording session with the band Imperiet, as he angry from the control room screamed at the string quartet to “Bring some more flesh to itâ€!
Said and done; The Fleshquartret was formed.
The musical tone was set in the first album “Köttbit†(1985) with its odd electric strings and original melodies. The big breakthrough came with the album “Flow†(1983) were classical elements were mixed with the uprising hiphop in form of sampled beats, and rap artists. The result was a Grammy for Best Album of the Year.
The quartet – who since long had stopped being a quartet with the addition of Christian Olsson on drums-, has always worked close with other artists like Thåström, Stina Nordenstam, Nina Persson, Tomas Öberg and Freddie Wadling.
The Fleshquartet has beside their 12 studio albums, contributed with music to a great number of films, and composed for ballets- and theatre ensembles in Sweden, Norway, England and France.
NOW FINALY.. After four Years it’s time to release their new pop album “Voices of Eden"; a vocal album with apperances by some of Sweden’s best vocal artist. Among them Robyn, Anna Thernheim, Joachim Thåström, Theodor Jensen, Christian Walz, Klas Åhlund, Johan Renck, Titiyo, Nicolai Dunger, Solo, Andreas Mattson and Freddie Wadling.
