Layout by CoolChaserJust 24 years of age, born and raised on coastal NSW, Victoria McGee has dedicated her life to music, since the tender age of eight, training with some of Australia’s finest vocal coaches; she took to the stage professionally at just fourteen years of age.
Although a versatile performer, with a love for all genres of music, Victoria’s first love is Country.
Throughout her short career, Victoria has enjoyed much success, performing at events such as NRL Games, NBL Games, NSW Pro Boxing Championships & entertaining in venues such as Star City Casino & onboard Sydney Harbour Cruises.
Victoria first appeared on National Television when she was Thirteen, performing as the opening artist on the 1997 “NBN Telethonâ€. Alongside acts such as Grace Knight & The Seekers.
2004 saw Victoria crowned “The McDonalds Challenge Contemporary Country Singer of The Yearâ€. The year that followed, 2005, would be a major stepping stone for Victoria as an artist. From 10,000 hopefuls, she was selected “Top 5†in her age category on Network Ten’s Australian series of “THE X FACTORâ€, one of the UK’s most talked about TV talent searches, which saw her perform “live to airâ€, on the show’s Grand Final in May, June 05 saw Victoria audition successfully for Australian Idol series 3, from 25,000 people who auditioned for the show. Victoria was selected among the “Top 30†contestants, giving her yet another opportunity to perform live on National Television.
That same year Victoria was offered “Lead Role†at Universal Studios in Osaka, Japan.
With her success in 2005 behind her, Victoria went on in 2006 to follow her dream as a country music artist, representing her hometown, Newcastle, at the National Country Music Championships.
She headed to Tamworth Country Music Festival, where she by chance was noticed by Nashville Legend Louie Shelton, Louie has produced and played for artists such as Lionel Richie, Seals and Croft, Boz Skaggs, Jackson 5, Neil Diamond, Barbra Striesand, and the list goes on.
Taking Victoria under his wing, Shelton sourced songs from some of Nashville finest Songwriters, whose credits include Trisha Yearwood, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, Sara Evans & more, for McGee’s debut album “You’ll Remember Meâ€, which was released at McGee & Shelton’s sell out show “The Legend & The Lady†during Tamworth Country Music Festival 08’.
Since then, Victoria enjoyed a whirlwind year, performing as special guest artist for the “Heart & Sole†line dance ball at Sydney Olympic park, in aid of Ronald McDonald House for over 1500 line dancers. She was the only artist invited to perform for the “Ashby House Line Dance Festival†held in May at West Tamworth Leagues Club for over 2,000 line dancers from Australia, Singapore & New Zealand.
Annually Victoria headlines the prestigious “Lovedale Long Lunch†in the Hunter Valley. During Blue Water Country Music Festival in 2008, Victoria performed to “standing room†only crowds, at all of her performances. Her “Sweet Dreams & Memories†Patsy Cline Tribute Show was the most talked about show during the festival.
In August 08, she set sail as a headline act onboard the “SEA SCOOT†country music line dance cruise on P&O Cruises “Pacific Dawnâ€.
During 2008, Victoria released two singles from her album to both Country Music Radio Australia and Country Music Channel.
She debuted with the hit “Run With It†and in late 08’, enjoyed her first taste of real success entering the “Top 30†countdown on the Country Music Channel (CMC) Charts with her single “I Can’t Waitâ€.
Victoria’s love for performing goes deeper than fame and money, Victoria spends a lot of time working towards raising funds for Ronald McDonald House at Westmead Children’s Hospital, a charity very close to her heart.
