Settled in Australia in the late 60's, Robert Severini commenced his musical career as a bassist singer, performing in Clubs around Melbourne. In 1973 Robert undertook the Arranging Course provided by the Berkeley Jazz University, Boston, USA, which gave him the first insight in the world of arranging.
In 1982, the Victorian College of the Arts awarded him the first diploma in the State for double bass (A.mus.A).
His artistry on the double bass was quickly recognised in the classical arena, where he accepted invitations to perform with the New Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, The Whitehorse Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne University String Orchestra, and the Frankston Symphony Orchestra.
Robert's drive to expand his musical horizons, led him to study jazz improvisation with American saxophonist Jamie Abersold, acclaimed bassist and tutor Rufus Read, Dr. David Backer (Jazz Lecturer and Historian at Indiana University), pianists Mick Knock and Al Gulper, celebrated trumpeter Randy Breaker and virtuoso Bassist John Patitucci.
1985 witnessed the commencement of the long-standing and close friendship with producer Adam Dion, as personal arranger, then, as musical director for Casino's variety productions. (www.casinopromotions.com.au)

Robert's expertise and experience in the music world, places him at ease with all styles of music. Today, he plays an important roll in the Australian music industry, as a performer, arranger, producer, jingle writer and midi-music programmer.

The extensive repertoire ranging from, Classical, Jazz, Latin, Brazilian. Big Band, Covers, to world music and his professional, musical taste and ability, has made the bands fronted by Rob Severini sought after groups in Australia and overseas. They have performed at major Festivals and functions, often backing guest artists such as: Al Martino, Normie Rowe, John St. Peeters, Ernie Sigley, Marina Prior, Frankie J. Holden, Anthony Warlow, Julie Anthony, Tony Pantano, John Farnham, Johnny Mathis, Max Baygraive, B.B. King to mention a few.
Rob Severini is equally well known as a versatile musician, performing also, in Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and French languages, either in a duo o trio format or in the 18 member..s orchestra (The Victorian Show band), and has performed at leading venues in Australia and Europe including regular engagements at the prestigious Hayman Island Resort-Qld.
