The Dirtball Rally is the idea that 3 friends had while talking over a few cold beers at Zeppy’s Pizza on the strand in Hermosa Beach. What started out as a half drunk idea has almost become a reality nearly a year later. Why the Dirtball Rally you ask? That is a great question! A race across the country in fancy million dollar race cars, staying at posh hotels and drinking fine wine every night has already been done. But a trip in vehicles worth less than $1000 that can’t even hit the speed limit, without changing clothes and staying at the worst places in the country has only been done by those who are known as wanderers or beatniks. The word dirtball embraces every aspect of our journey. $1000 cars with chopped tops and no clean clothes crossing over 2700 miles sounds like a sketchy idea to most, and that is exactly why it will be done. Now with nearly 30 entrants in 15 cars coming from all over the west coast of the US and Canada, we will embark on this epic journey starting in the same place that it was envisioned nearly a year earlier.
