June 6, 1944~D-Day Invasion of Normandy

"Last stand of French Mobile 100 in North Vietnam" Opening scene from "We Were Soldiers" A very realistic reenactment of that tragic day when communist Viet Minh militants ambushed our French allies as they marched along Route Coloniale 41 on June 24, 1954. These were France's finest soldiers that had served alongside U.S. forces in the Korean War. Outnumbered and hoplessly surrounded, the valiant soldiers of France fought bravely until the bitter end. After the battle the communist North Vietnamese brutally executed all of the wounded French soldiers. The entire regiment died on that lonely highway, and with them died the last hope of French victory in Vietnam.

I was so looking forward to bowing my knee in loyalty to the first female vice-president of the United States...

USA Olympic Volleyball team coach Jenny Lang Ping

From Beijing, China Jenny Lang Ping is one of the most respected volleyball players in the world. She is the only female head coach among the top 20 countries in the FIVB world rankings.
She became a legend when she led the Chinese Olympic team to capture the the Gold Medal in the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. She went on to lead the Chinese team to one world championship and two world cup victories.
After coaching several Italian League teams, Lang accepted the offer from the US team, a team that hadn't won a medal since 1992! Keep in mind that in accepting this challenging position, she would be going against her mother country of China. Under her leadership, the USA team would go on to capture the Silver Medal! She did a great job and I'm truly grateful for her helping us out.
