Ruby for Lucy

About Me

* Once upon a time, a stone of Ruby red lay sleeping under a thin blanket of Earth. The Ruby was dull – it hadn’t been polished in a while. Figuring that it had reached its final resting place, it soaked the goodness from the surrounding soil and did the best that it could to be happy * Then one day, a big grey cloud took a greedy sip from its cup, and the World was pelted by a downpour bigger than a very large thing. To its surprise, the Ruby was freed from its muddied bed * That same day, Lucy was bored by the pictures her pencils drew, so she went outside to jump in puddles. Kicking and splashing in a yellow rain coat and wellies, she caught her reflection in a shimmering pool. Feeling free and good, she bent down to have a closer look * And there it was – a little gem, mirroring the red of her rosy cheeks. She plucked the stone from the water, rubbing her shiny eyes so that they would see more clearly. “Nice to meet you, Ruby”, she whispered. And, with a knowing grin, she slipped it into her pocket *
