Bio:
Andy started mixing drumnbass back in 1999 using the name 'Morph' and soon got himself gigs in and around his home town of Bristol. In 2002 he began to learn the basics of music production on Reason, using his background knowledge of instruments such as the piano, violin, guitar and drums to good effect. In 2003 he launched 'Breakout' with some friends, and helped to promote four or five successful club events before taking some time out to travel.
Roll on to 2006, Andy relaunched Breakout with new DJ partner Bevan and started making some beats on logic, and his tunes were soon being played on OTC webcasts for unsigned talent. His first breakthrough came in the summer of 2007 when he linked up with Doug Kubiks for some logic tuition, and three days later his first release was signed to Phunkfiction's Eat Phunk LP (Kubiks & Morph - Inflicted).
Following this sudden breakthrough, Andy began to promote some solo material for the first time, and it soon became apparent that he had to change his alias as there had recently been another 'Morph' in the dnb scene.
Since using 'Andy Sim' his tunes have been played by the likes of Stunna, Random Movement & Peyo, and he has been heavily supported by Bassdrive.com DJ's such as Overfiend, DFunk, Reflect, Methodus, Adam Form & Kapacity. This exposure lead to a new collaboration with Donnie Dubson called 'Daydreams', which is now signed to Fokuz records for a digital release on the forthcoming 'Chronicles, the Aftermath' project.
Aside from the liquid production, Andy has also been writing reggae infused bootlegs under the alias 'Phorm' , and those tunes have been played out by Massive Attack's Daddy G, Aries & Jacky Murda to name a few. Off the back of these bootlegs, Jacky Murda asked him to remix a tune for his Chopstick Dubplate label, and this has now been signed for a 12" release. (Chopstick Dubplate feat. Pecos - Got the Lovin' [Andy Sim Remix]).
With six releases now confirmed, a number of interesting new collaborations in progress, and Breakout building it's reputation as a successful club night, the future is looking bright for this talented and ambitious drumnbass lover.
