If you like blues music or want to learn more about the genre, listen to my radio show; Blue Horizon. It airs Monday nights 11PM to 12AM Mountain Time on Aspen Public Radio. It streams live on the Internet at www.kajx.org. Just click on the "Listen Live" button. If you are in the Roaring Fork Valley you can tune in at 91.5, 91.1, 90.9, 90.1, 89.7, or 88.9. You can also hear KAJX on the airport channel, 8 on Comcast cable TV in Aspen/Snowmass.
People have asked me, "Why the blues?" The answer; either it speaks to your soul or it doesn't. Perhaps the attraction is the aspect of its raw simplicity, yet at the same time possessing compelling intensity. Or maybe it's the personal and often passionate expression. Let's not forget the history and culture of the genre. Or it could be the hopefulness with a tinge of melancholy - although things are bad now, they will get better. I've done an entire show with the theme "It's Alright". In many ways blues music and blues musicians have been an influence in shaping this country.
