I'm Doug and I am currently a student at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC. I am studying with Todd Wright and Andy Page at school, but have had the good fortune to be surrounded with good musicians since I started playing. I took up music after abandoning dreams of becoming Chipper Jones when I was 16 and started playing with a few rock bands in my hometown. My senior year in high school I joined the Richland Northeast Gospel and Praise (GAP) Choir and our choir was voted the second best choir in the nation at the Black Music Caucus' National Gospel Choir Competition in Brooklyn, NY. The GAP Choir band was also voted the best band in the nation at this competition. After finishing high school, I attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA, and studied with John Stein and James Peterson. After the Berklee program, I moved to NC and started school at Appalachian State University.I lead a quartet that plays every Monday night at the Crossroads Coffeehouse in the Student Union on the campus of Appalachian State University. If you are around, come check it out!! I am also a part of the ASU Jazz Ensemble I and Jazz Combo I. In addition I play with steel pan extraordinare Jonathan Scales in the Pan Situation and the Jonathan Scales Quartet.I have had the pleasure of getting to share the stage with numerous wonderful musicians such as Ingrid Jensen, Marcus Roberts, Roland Guerrin, Jason Marsalis, Michelle Amato, Rick Simerly, Todd Wright, Andy Page, Patrick Brown, and Jonathan Scales. I have also opened for artists as diverse as Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child, the Marcus Roberts Trio, Ward Williams, and the Charlotte Symphony. In addition I have also studied with Clay Ross, Lee Barbour, Andy Page, and Robert Newton.NOTES ON MUSIC: This summer I got the chance to live in Mendoza, Argentina to record with Argentine musicians, learn un poco Castellano, and volunteer at a local elementary school outside of Mendoza. It was an incredible experience and hopefully these songs reflect a little of that.Running Wild - written with my friend Scott Woodruff (aka Stick Figure) Scott- vocals, keyboards, effects Me - guitars, effects, Katie Archbold - vocals Alejandro - monologueNubes - Doug - guitars Evan Janik - acoustic guitar Rich Simpson - keyboards, bass Georgina - celloBlues para Bandoneon - Doug - guitar Juan Pablo Jofre Romarion - bandoneon Rich Simpson - keys, bass Agustine Soler - guitar, whispers, good vibes Emanuel Romero - drums
