About Me

The name is Richard Moore: aka “Filthy”. Raised and groomed in Cleveland, Ohio (216). Growing up Richard never experienced the ideal childhood some of us may think comes with being a child. Richard never stayed in one school long enough to develop any significant relationships. As a child needs his mother, he also needs his father; unfortunately Richard’s father was gone unseen. Shifting from city to city with son and gun by her side Richard’s mother finally settled in Cleveland, Ohio (216). The King Kennedy Projects, a place where gangsters and killers lye like sleeping dogs and the daily activity was definitely not one to put on a resume. Once here Richard lived with cousins rather than his mother or other siblings whom had different fathers. Living the street life since birth the King Kennedy Projects was all too familiar, but for once in his life this place for him was called home.As a ruthless and rambunctious teen, Richard adapted the nick name “Richie Rich”. Richard always had the gift of gab so throughout his adolescence he rapped on corners, in the school hallways, and some old buildings turned underground night clubs. Kids from neighboring streets would say Richard’s flow and style was reminiscent of the legendary hip-hop group N.W.A. Richard’s prowess and demeanor lead him to be a champion amongst local freestylers and wanna be rappers. Just like a boxer with a mean mug, Richard could intimidate his opponent with just one look, but once his flow began, no one could step up to the plate.Unfortunately, Richard’s past and current activities led him to a fourteen year sentence where he spent many nights dwelling on his past and trying to reconstruct a future. A future not only for himself but also for his son, who was in the womb when he got incarcerated. While in prison Richard began writing even more, with hopes and dreams of making it “BIG” once released. He explained that “the hardest part about being in prison is refraining from killing somebody…I missed my freedom and having relationships with my lady friends…” Richard began performing at the penitentiary where he became a spokesman for people who also had led similar lives outside the prison. Richard acquired the name “Filthy” from fellow inmates. When asked why the name “Filthy” he explained, “I would tell the truth about anything even if I knew it would rub a person the wrong way or bruise their pride…people lie to people because they fear them in some way, I fear no one… I liked getting under peoples’ skin…so like filth in your clothes or on your skin, its extremely hard to get out…and that’s my persona so to speak, “Filthy”.After his fourteen year stint, Richard was reunited with his now fifteen year old son. Feeling like his life has a new meaning and beginning ,Richard picked up where he left off and began pursuing his dream full time. Richard’s music would be labeled by many as “nod” music. “Nod” music can be described as music that makes you “nod” your head in consent when you hear it. Richard also explains that some people would also call it “real talk”, because of its raw, rough, and street life appeal, essentially his life set to music. Many affluent rappers such as Scarface, KRS 1, and Jay Z just to name a few also play a key role in Richard’s musical influence. His ability to blend street life experiences with thoughts of the common man and immersing them in a wicked beat shows that he’s definitely a piece of the puzzle in this jigsaw puzzle we call “The Music Industry”. Everybody has a story to tell and Richard’s story is in the “Filthy Mind”. “My street credit is A1, my rap sheet is long, and my word is my bond.” He’s Filthy, the guy that the game is missing.

Disrespect for old rappers

To me old rappers earned their respect by paying dues. The industry has tried to turn rap into a young man's game only, and that's bullshit. Why is it that you can be 60 or 70 years old in any other gen...
