About Me

"the greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return"
Monika Henter is one of those female soul warriors who would not give in to Hungarian mainstream music; but instead chose to go a different route, and develop a new style that represents her own artistic tastes. She signed with Psychic Mókus towards the end of 2007, and with the help of Mr. Mókus, is currently at work on her first album as a singer/songwriter.
She sang in different bands for fun, and wrote lyrics for music. She also played the guitar at some point, but never considered herself a musician. In her own words “Unlike many other artist, I did not know that I was gonna be a singer – my parents didn't know either. Even though my grandma was teaching me how to play the piano, and my grandpa was a musican, I had no idea that I would get so close to the music through the years. Of course I was humming to myself, even composed songs; but until I finished high school I was more interested in fine arts and drew portraits for money.”
When Psychic Mókus first heard Monika, she was singing in a band called NEBO, formerly known as Pozitiv, which she joined in 2003. NEBO had come in second place at a national music competition, and appeared on several tv and radio shows. They also performed at various venues in Hungary, and abroad. go to psychic-mokus' webpage
NEBO split up in 2007, and – just like the other musicians - she had to fill the gap. She decided to dust off her guitar and write music to the lyrics that had piled up through the years. She made a demo of her songs and founded a new band with her sister called 'Instant Groove' to play them. The first song they made “Hétvégi Zsombor” is one of the first recorded under the Psychic Mókus label, and will soon be available as a download.
Monika is involving different musicians on her album, like Mike Smee(English songwritter) Felician Kalmus (cello player and songwritter) and madrian (singer, guitarist, songwritter). The first single 'Somebody Stop Me' was recorded with the help of bass player Szöllössy Kati, and is now available for free download at www.psychic-mokus.eu
