The Sucata Run is an annual non-competitive banger rally tour for UK-based charity gemin-i.org and takes place during the summer bank holiday weekend.
August 27th - 31st 2009
Fancy yourself as the next Lewis Hamilton but your wheels are more Lada than Lambourghini? Then dust off your fluffy dice, supe up your spoiler and sign up for the Sucata Run, a junk-car touring rally from France to Portugal this August Bank Holiday.
The rally kicks off in Normandy's stunning capital, Rouen, and cars rattle their way through 2000km of the most stunning scenery to Europe's most westerly point, Cabo da Roca. Through the vineyards of Bordeaux and the desertscapes of Spain you'll (hopefully!) cross the finish line on the sumptuous Portuguese coast.
Unlike other European banger rallies, 100% of the money teams raise goes directly to charity.
All you need to do is: 1) Form a team 2-4 (preferably including someone who can drive!!) 2) Find an old banger (read the website for help with this) - or use any car available 3) Scrape together £100 per team to register 4) Raise as much money as you can for Gemin-i.org projects, with the target of £1000 per team - £250 each.
The Sucata Run raises funds for London based charity Gemini-i.org . They specialize in bridging social and cultural divides, bringing disparate peoples across the world together and helping them to initiate conversations rather than wars.
PLACES ARE LIMITED SO REGISTER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO GUARANTEE YOURSELF A PLACE
From now on, Sucata is going to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We are going to off-set all the emissions produced by the rally and its organisation by funding renewable and sustainable energy projects around the globe.
Although we're aware this isn't a complete solution to the problem of climate change, we're hoping to raise awareness and invest in a greener future! Click here for more info on how we're going green..
