GORDON LONCASTER

About Me

So who is he then ? Well, he's a London based radio presenter and comedy writer. He doesn't really like writing about himself so he pretends to be somebody else and writes in the third person. It's a split personality thing. Strange, because he's got a mouth on him. Gordon started doing bad stand-up in the early 90s at university. It was hilarious and very successful, but maybe for the wrong reasons. Soon after, he acted in BBC TV comedy shows “Alexei Sayle's Merry Go Round” and with The League Of Gentlemen in BBC1’s Saturday night “Lenny Henry Goes To Town”. This led to him presenting his own TV shows on satellite TV which he wrote and co-produced. He anchored the first two series of “Lifestyle” – an acerbic and humorous left-of-centre arts magazine show. He also wrote and presented the first two series of “Fusion” - an abrasive, fast moving music show focusing on the hybrid area of Western & Eastern contemporary music long before that became fashionable.
Gordon presented his own show on London’s cutting edge radio station 104.9 XFM for Capital Radio (1998 – 2004). Before that he presented a dry take on entertainment news on BBC GLR’s 94.9 FM Breakfast Show for London which was a feature developed from his live reports across the UK which he presented for Virgin Radio.
Gordon also has extensive experience in foreign correspondence, broadcasting from all over the world covering music festivals live in Europe and Australia and phone-reporting for Canadian (KISS 92) and Australian (104.1 2DAY FM) radio stations. His music knowledge is encyclopaedic. In 2004 - 2005 he presented the (Music Week) award-winning daily afternoon show (12pm to 3pm) on Kerrang ! 105.2 FM in Birmingham – the largest commercial TSA outside London. He also started the seminal weekly specialist hard rock show called “The Thrash Can” which is still going today. Later that year, Virgin Radio Classic Rock poached him to present their daily afternoon show as the warm-up to Alice Cooper From America.
Last summer (2006) saw Gordon broadcasting on GCap’s national DAB service Planetrock and Invicta FM in Kent. At the moment Gordon is also selling his soul to the corporate devil using the gift of voice-overs for commercials as well as scriptwriting for Radio 4 and the Advertising Industry.

"On behalf of the NSPCC and the Fundraising committee, thank you very much indeed for being our MC at The Savoy. You'll be delighted to know the celebrity auction raised over £120,000, which is fantastic. You did a terrific job."
