About Me

Musical expression has always been a positive outlet to transform personal tribulations into an art form. Versityle was born in 1981 as Christopher Lopez in Orange County, California and arrived in the Inland Empire in 1987. Ten years after confronting the death of his grandmother, Versityle transformed his long pastime passion of poetry into spoken words. His fervor had built up by the year 1999, when Versityle dropped his first official recording, a four-track demo at a public recording studio in Brea, California. In 2000, he started selling and giving away his demo, to fans of his music across the area totaling over 5,000 CDs. While recording in Brea, he was able to catch the attention of a short-lived record label in the Inland Empire where he was able to further develop his sound. In 2001, Versityle flew to New York to work in the studio with an independent label, Dark Lab Records. He was able to increase his catalog and come back with enough recorded material to release his debut album, “8 and ½ Trax: An EP Album”. He quickly pushed out over 500 CDs out of his trunk alone. With the financial success of his EP album, Versityle was able to put together his own independent-distribution and build his own recording studio. He became more involved with the production of each album, where he gained the experience as a personal engineer and later, as a producer. He assembled a team from the ground up that included producers, journalist writers, web designers, and photographers, to compliment the new professional recording studio; giving birth to Psychonite Entertainment in the year 2003.The local buzz was extending at this point, where the media was starting to to take notice of his transformation. Chaffey College, a community college where he attends while in pursuit of his Associates Degree, picked up a copy of his music and reached out to him for his first chance at national exposure. The Chaffey College Panther, which has won numerous awards in competitions across the United States, had the racks emptied by the student body. After establishing himself through self-promotions, he started sending demos to record labels of all forms. He grabbed the attention of J-Records in 2003 but was unsuccessful to obtain a record deal, due to the fact that he was an unsolicited artist. In 2005, Versityle was asked to work on the Ozzfest Tour with the vendors of Chronic Candy and spent three months on the road saving up money to pay for his first LP album. “Patiently Waiting” was released in 2006, an appropriate title given the hard work it had taken to build from scratch. In less then two months, the album sold over 250 copies, not including bootlegged versions, out of the trunk of his car. The year 2006 also brought Versityle’s music to new heights, as he launched an artery for his personal career with the website Psychonite.com. While in the mist of establishing a local buzz, he released his first mixed tape album in 2007, where, once again, the album was greeted with success and sold out within four months of its release. His musical content captured the attention of the cyberspace world as well with digital sales on music-selling sites that would include iTunes, Yahoo Music and Napster.Versityle released his second LP album “Run Your Mouth”, in May of 2008. This album would serve as his most contingent album, with artists such as Zig Zag (Northern California, collaborated with with Brotha Lynch Hung), Cashis (Shady Records, Orange County) and local artists making guest appearances. This album has been notably, the most popular piece that Versityle has ever created. It created a buzz that was not to be matched among the local competition. Veristyle has proven at the age of 27, as an independent artist, that anything can happen as long as you put your money and time, where your talent lies. With the lack of Chicano artists in the music industry and a pending recessed economy, Versityle has kept his ear firmly to the ground and has maintained a path of self truth and realness with in himself, and the others around him. With that, he provides his listeners and fans with the sound and the ability to keep knocking down barriers that hold him back from achieving his dreams.[LOVEMYFLASH]
