Ma Smith the originator; daughter JoAnn, and her children, Aliyyah, Dedan and Khalid Baylor, with lots of talent and determination took a family hobby and turned it into a full service bakery.JoAnn Baylor , a graduate of NYC Tech, Hotel & Restaurant Management School, has over twenty years experience in the banking and catering business. Fifteen of those years were spent in the management of B&I Food Accounts.
Aliyyah Baylor , started at an early age, after two years of college she took over her mother's home baking business. Aliyyah had perfect three of the bakery's signature items, the Carrot, Red Velvet adn the Sour Cream Pound Cake. (Her Carrot cake was featured May '96 in Essence Magazine.) Within twleve years of decorating cakes, her passion for creativity has brought many new cake design methods to the Bakery. She has earned her title of Chief Cake Stylist.
Khalid Baylor , is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, School of Pastry Arts. Khalid started his own cookie business in High School. His cookies were so awesome, his recipe was featured in the Oct. '95 issue of Essence Magazine. Khalid is our Pastry Chef over the fancy desserts, pies, tarts, breads and our fourth signature item, The Sweet Potato Cheese Cake.
Dedan Baylor's natural sweetness, together with his background in sales and customers service, completes the circle of a family dedicated to providing quality through service and product.
Our talented staff of cake stylists can recreate your party/event theme through sculptured cake designs, chocolate molds and/or air brushing.
