The story
Something Wicked started as an idea back in December of 2006. Chad Booth liked playing black metal and had a few ideas. Shortly after, he recorded a track and showed the ideas to his step brother Chris Caldwell. Chris liked the idea but was currently playing for the band Hollow Graves. Chad then showed his friend Alex and Alex agreed to be vocals.
Chris left his musical project, Hollow Graves due to a small conflict and came and played bass for Something Wicked. Something Wicked wasn't going anywhere fast. After a few weeks of doing nothing, Alex decided to pursue a career in the navy. There was yet another obstacle of having a full band.
In late January Chad pitched the black metal idea to his classmate and friend John Thompson. John liked the idea but kept putting it off. After a few weeks they picked up a guitarist named Jason, but John was still putting off the idea of playing black metal. Then at a show, Chris kept talking to John about the project. That made him more interested so he jumped in and played bass. Chis then moved to vocals.
The 4 piece band (Chris, Chad, Jason, and John) wrote one track and recorded it with a drum machine. The drum machine didn't add very much but it was a beat. The track was named This Tragedy. This tragedy wasnt what the band aimed for, but it was a song they were proud of. This Tragedy was a metal-type of song, not quite black metal. So the band decided to play whatever came to them...which soon developed into metal core.
After the practice recording that the band decided to look for a drummer. After a few weeks with no practice they finally found one. That is where Johnny Ross came into the picture. Johnny had played with Chad and Chris in a past band. The band picked up but Jason never had time to play. So the band and Jason went their separate directions so Jason could get his punk side out.The band became a 4 set.
The four set wrote a few songs, such as Pressure, which hit it off with crowds. Something Wicked played 2 shows as a four set. They tried out a 2 guitarists. A guy name Brad and a guy named Josh. Brad was really good, but wasnt made for us. Then Josh came in. Josh picked up really fast. He played our songs like he had been there all along. He played with us for a while. The band butted heads with Josh. He eventually stopped coming to practice. So the band asked him to leave.
The band went on for a while just writing songs. The one day they hear about a kid named Adam Napier. Adam came and tried out. Something Wicked liked him, but didnt know if he would be ready to play the upcoming shows. They worked Adam as hard as they could, throwing in extra practices. Adam played the next show. With Adam Something Wicked wrote a song with a thrash feel named Deception.
December of 2007 the band split up with Adam because of attendance issues. The search for another guitarist begins. Which was hard on the band because they were going into the studio later that month.
Then January of 08 the band gave CJ Edens a tryout. CJ was a very talented guitar player who tried to get the bands attention for a long time. Cj blew the bands mind. They really did not see that coming. They let CJ aboard after a few days of hanging out. He will definitely push the rest of them and make them all a lot more talented.
In the summer of 2008 the band decided to temporarily switch the lineup moving Chris from lead vocals to bass and John to Lead Vocals. After a few shows those positions became permanent. The band then went on the be more death metal and grind from their previous suite of hardcore and metal.
In the summer of 08 Chris left the band. The band had made a pact if one of the original members quit that they would break up. The remaining members of somthing wicked went to form Buffalo creek massacre.
