Circle of Sisters Book Club Was established in March 2002 in Kalamazoo, MI as a portal for women to come together and celebrate African American Literature. The group consists of five dynamic women: Bonnie Love, DaNikka Snell, Sue Murray, Teresa "Kami" Johnson, Nailah Abdullah Ford. The book club also consists of two long distance sisters: Tisha Mitchell (Founder) (Atlanta, GA) and Sheletha Manuel (Greensboro, NC), as well as a host of honorary members.The group meets every third Saturday of the month with members taking turn to host in their homes. The focus of each meeting is to enjoy each others thoughts and ideas on the book of the month, fellowship, sisterhood, and cooking! Circle of Sisters hosts annual events including:
• COS goes MAD ( Male Appreciation Day), saluting our black men and a book discussion on male/female relationships. February 2007 book of the month is “Keeping the Pussy†by actor/author Mel Jackson followed by a book signing with Earl Sewell (When Push Comes to Shove) at the local Borders.

• Christmas Pot-LuckThe book club enjoys sponosring authors in Kalamazoo. Marlon Green, Earl Sewell, William Frederick Cooper, and JD Mason have all visited us, and we have encouraged the support of our little community with radio interviews and newspaper articles about upcoming visit. Additionally, we have sponsored book signings at the local Boarders/Waldenbooks & Kalamazoo Public Library.
