When Judas Priest enthousiasts Tom Heijnen and David Marcelis decided to quit their band Conquestador, they had a feeling that it would not be the last time they were to play together. Sharing their love for classic metal-bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, they have always been on the same musical level. Whilst watching the numerous Iron Maiden tribute-bands, both of them wondered why there wasn’t a decent Judas Priest Tribute in the Netherlands. Probably quite simple: because almost no one can do the piercing screams of Rob Halford and not many guitarists can do the twin-guitar attack from KK Downing and Glenn Tipton. Fortunately, Tom knew that David had the explosive vocal ability to blow Halford away and he also knew a couple of guys who could do the Tipton and Downing guitars as well. He contacted the six-string specialists Erwin van Egmond and Gerard van der Maaden and asked if they were interested to do the guitars in a new Judas Priest Tribute… luckily they were! And what a wonderful combination it was: the incredible speed and technical abilities from Glenn Tipton were no problem for Erwin and the incredible energy and aggressiveness from KK Downing came natural to Gerard.
Adding Ralph to the picture, Judas Rising acquired a bass player that not only sounds like Ian Hill, but looks like him as well! Combined with the thrashing drum-skills of Tom Heijnen, the band was complete!
And together… well, close your eyes and you will believe the Classic Priest Guitar-Wielding Twin Guitar-Attack by Downing and Tipton is being performed right in front of you!
