Djkenzhero is a DJ/Promoter/Booking agent and event & music producer. He has been in the industry for at least 8 years and has made his mark as a DJ with his unique sound. He has played all over the country, has resided in the 3 of the major cities in the country to enhance his experience, skill and sound. Played and assisted to organize corporate, medium to small size events.
As a DJ:
Held residence in Jungle Connection in 1999
Played at the Legendary 206 towards the end
Played Open Mind Session at the old Bassline in Melville 2000
Held residency at Marvel, Baraza, Armchair, and played events and clubs in and out of Cape Town such as Roads House Zem Café, Joburg from 2000 to 2003
Was part of a cast in a theatre production of reworked Shakespeare play ‘Two Gentlemen of Verona’ the Maynardville Theatre 2002
Played at the Red Bull Music Academy in 2003 Cape Town
Was resident at the Black Sunday Soweto events 2004
Co-hosted the Eclectic mix radio show on Tuks on Sundays in 2005
Held residency at Tings n' Times, Sidewalk, Nile Crocodile, Buitenbagh (Moon box) etc in PTA 2005
Played YFM Wednesday’s with Bad Boy T, Lee and Sanza in 2005
Is current resident dj for the Annual Urban Voices that features artists such as Saul Williams, Sara Jones Etc since its inception in 2000
Co hosted Funky Heads show on Mutha fm radio in Cape Town 2005/6
Played Macufe festival for four consecutive years
Played Oppikkopi for four consecutive years
Played Standard Bank Jazz festival opening 2006
Is currently ambassador for Camel a JT International Group
Played the Levi Vintage Sundays in 2006 & Levi Young Guns 2006
Played Levi Optical Illusion tour 2006
Currently produces and plays at the Party People nights at Roka
Currently plays YFM on the breakfast show with Rudeboy and Sanza on Wednesdays
As a Promoter and Event Producer
• Was half of the Organix duo that coordinated and produced Open Mind Sessions
which where a benchmark for bands such as Tumi and the Volume, 340ml, MXO
Simphiwe Dana, Lebo Mashile, Masello Motana, Obita etc and gave birth to Tumi and the Volume in 2001.
• The Organix Open Mind idea continued in Partnership with Oppikkopi and Vodacom at the Annual Macufe Jazz Festival from 2002 to 2005.
• Was original member to a collective called Native Yard that consisted of Masauko Chipembere of BLK Sonshine and P4 Radio host Koketso Sachane who produced events in Cape Town between 2002 to 2003.
• Assisted to initiate the original Soweto hip-hop sessions Black Sunday Arts Academy in collaboration with Native Hut Collective and Mfecane Medium in 2004.
• Produced the Hot Box Mcee Competitions in Pretoria at Tings ‘n Times 2005.
• Assistant coordinator for Jumbo, a concert that took place in Mozambique in 2005 with artists such as 340ml and various DJ’s.
• Is half of continuing Think Funk concept with DJ Bob which has been around Johannesburg, Pretoria Bloemfontein and Mozambique since 2004
• Coordinator for the Levi and Recoffe national Tertiary Institutions tour through Oppikoppi in 2005
• Through Top End has been a Booking Agent that produced events such as:
- Oppikoppi stage called Sipho Gumede Stage 2004 - 2006
- Windhoek Sunday Sessions 2005
- Levi Vintage Sundays 2005/6
- Levi Young Guns 2006
• Coordinates independent Party People events that takes place monthly at Roka (JHB) 2006/7
