About Me

I am a child of the Sixties (Aging Flower Child!). The majority of my life was spent in the D.C. area (Maryland, specifically), and I miss the excitement of it, the snow, the colorful leaves in the fall, and too many things to mention. What I love more than anything are animals ... there's something about a furry face, or a feathered face, or even a scaly face, that I can't resist. Maybe it's the fact that they don't have the necessary facial muscles to frown at me. :-) Cats are my favored animals, both the little ones and the big ones, though I try my best not to interact with the big ones. I love English history; I love the Tudors. Renaissance Festivals excite me; I love the fun of pretending I'm walking through living history. I love music ... I suppose soft rock is my favorite, but straight-up rock will do nicely, too. Also folk ...... and de blues! A bit of Mozart is nice at times. I like costume movies and biographies. Oh, and I just love the Internet! Is there anything that can't be found here? I'm a voracious reader ... I'll read anything; books, magazines, the backs of DVD boxes, anything on the Internet ... the only thing I won't read are instructions that come with products. (I like to try to figure it out myself.) I don't seem to have enough time to read much these days, though. And speaking of time ... peace out, brother/sister! This has really been intense ... ;-) "Trying to Get to You", Eric Burdon

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

I'd sure like to meet God. There are so many things I'd like to ask him. And, of course, St. Francis of Assisi ... any patron saint of animals is a patron saint of mine! The person I'd like to meet most of all, though, is Anne Boleyn, the second wife of Henry VIII and the first of his wives to be beheaded. I'd like to meet Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits). I'm fascinated by his talent, and I like the way he thinks. Paul Simon would be interesting to talk to. I've loved Paul McCartney since 1964, so I'd have to meet him. And wouldn't it be fun to spend some time with Weird Al Yankovic? Oh, wait ... am I supposed to be naming real people??

Something to Think About

Once upon a time a scorpion wanted to cross a brook. On the bank he saw a frog and asked if the frog would give him a ride to the other side. "Oh no," says the frog, "If I carry you on my back you wil...

What Life Is and What Life Ain’t

I found this in one of those Joke-A-Day things that I somehow signed up for and often find amusing.  I hope they don't mind that I repeat it here in my blog, but this is as good a place as any to...

Kathryn

Last week, my friend Kathryn died.  She was found sitting in her chair with a cup of coffee on the table in front of her.  Kathryn was two years younger than my mother would have been. ...
