Babe Ruth, Rookie Portrait, 1915 World Champion Boston Red Sox
This rare photograph of a young Babe Ruth comes from my collection of original glass plate negatives. The portrait was featured in an exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (Summer/Fall 2005) in honor of the 2004 World Champion Boston Red Sox. It certainly was an honor to have this photo selected for the exhibit and to have participated in it.
My son Jason and I went to the World Series ring presentation ceremony and Opening Day game 2005 at Fenway Park. The World Champion Boston Red Sox beat the Yankees that day, their first win of the 2005 season, and the first win as World Champions.
Jason and I at the Welcome Back Red Sox dinner, hosted by the Red Sox Foundation for the owners, players, coaches, their families, and distinguished guests. Here we are with the Boston Red Sox 2004 World Series Championship trophy. It just didn't get any closer without going home with us.
At 8'o'clock in the morning on Opening Day at Fenway Park, from high atop the roof above right field, Jason and I had the time of our lives being interviewed on live television by the local FOX-TV affiliate. Here I am showing off some of the historic baseball photographs from my collection of glass plate negatives. Later that afternoon we watched the Red Sox beat the Yankees - it was a great day with my son!
