Ever been to a show where the fans come first? Where the show is as much in the crowd as it is on stage? This is what local Chicago ska band Almost Minorities is all about. You are likely to see skanking, break-dancing, and a circle pit all at the same show. Don’t be surprised if the horn section starts doing back-flips, both on and off stage. It is also common for band members to join in the festivities with the crowd, whether it be for a braveheart or for the largest game of duck-duck-goose ever. Almost Minorities is one of the most ethnically diverse bands to ever grace your stereo. The band was formed in January of 2007 when the members, from all across the country, met as college students in Chicago. Since then they have been playing the local Chicago scene, building a fan base, and recording some of their original songs. With a sound as diverse as their backgrounds, the band is doing all in their power to merge the musical styles they enjoy and miss. Almost Minorities promotes a clean, positive message and desires to bring people together through a musical style which is most accurately described as ska, but with many new elements thrown in that make it difficult to put your finger on exactly.
