Sound of Parka
Sound of Parka consists of four young men who one day decided to combine their powers. The press describes the four ‘Parkans’ as: “Modpunks that walked straight out of the London scene of the late 70’s.†However, all four Parkans were born in the 80’s in Stellingwerf, a rural district in the northern part of the Netherlands. The name Sound of Parka was chosen because the Parka (a type of jacket) has been worn by rebellious individuals ever since the 60’s…
In 2006 Sound of Parka recorded a Demo (containing: Still Great, Lady Velcro and Sleep all Day) which was a success and since then Sound of Parka has been playing at many festivals, happenings, clubs and bars. Sound of Parka recorded an EP in 2008 (containing: The New Thing, Mothers Shoes, Stereo Rodeo, Little Red Dress and Vodka).
Critics define the ‘Sound of Parka’ as being timeless Rock. The Parkans themselves consider their music to be Rock Music with a Hippierock and Modpunk twist to it. Modpunks, Indierockers, Bangers, whatever you’d like to call them. Lively songs in dirty waters. Dark edges with a silver line. Howling winds and burning rooftops.
