About Me

The name Iron Mtn. comes from the hardest to reach, yet most beautiful summit in the San Gabriel Mountains, and the term can also be used as a metaphor for living in Southern California-a balance of beauty and brutality.

Started as a two piece consisting of bass & guitar during January of 2006, the lineup was finalized with the addition of Moonstra on drums in December of the same year, and has been playing shows nonstop ever since, all the while solidifying and improving their output. Moonstra has since moved on to his various other projects.
Iron Mtn. pull from various influences yet remain unique in their sound and approach. Featuring extreme volume and ample improvisation, Iron Mtn. sound unlike any one band, yet have been compared to bands such as Can, Black Sabbath, Zoroaster, and Circle.
Future plans include more shows, recordings, CD's, & Vinyl.
Iron Mtn. has ended the Mark II lineup working with former drummer Trent (also of Whores of Tijuana). Trent helped solidify the band's vision (that of a more powerful and heavy sound) that could not previously be achieved. But alas, all good things must come to an end. Trent has moved on to pursue a revamped lineup of Whores of Tijuana as well as working on solo material. We are greatful to have worked with him and only wish the best in the future.
We are now in Mach III with new (fourth) drummer Matt BONES. Matt is committed to solidifying Iron Mtn., a nice guy and a hell of a drummer. We are back to playing shows and working on new material and refining our old material.
Bands Iron Mtn. have played with include:
16, Aldebaran, Ancestors, Black Cobra, Blood of the Sun, Chingalera, Dali's Lama, Dixie Witch, Floating Goat, Foot Village, Hurt Model, The Iron Monkeys, Infinite Monolith of Slavery, Iron of Odra, Lightning Swords of Death, Longpig, Lux Nova Umbra Est, Manslaughter, Noxagt, Ol' Scratch, Residual Echoes, Rwake, Sea Beasts, SMD, Stonehelm, David Scott Stone, Turambar, Tweak Bird, the Usaisamonster, Weekend Warrior, Wormwood, and Zoroaster.
