Placid Eclipse formed around August of 2006. Bryce, Brant, and Devin met through their previous project, Vindicator. Dwelling on the idea of making experimental, heavy music with a wide range of influences, Placid Eclipse recorded and released a full-length EP, entitled Beneath The Winter Sun, February of 2008.
