About Me

goddamn phd. really. now, i used to be an interesting person. lived in 6 different countries, travelled to 26 (or so). surfed. hiked. went on down and dirty wilderness trips for weeks on end. seen tufa. drank hot toddies and played shuffleboard in tiny little bars in towns like lone pine. walked through the sand dunes with pink floyd blasting from my headphones. danced naked with frenzied beauties under the stars. tripped hard on something from a shake in a shack in thailand and felt my small smallness. loved many, lost some. I have a love tribe, the likes of which live from the lbc where i grew up, to marin, to oly, to lisbon portugal. we have hurried visits in between sticking my head between critical theory and trying to change the world (or at least one person's mind). they are freaks and faeries, bright smilers and big frowners, roll in the mud types, eat berries for weeks on end types, rainbow beauties, live off the grid radicals, kill your tv and make your own presents nerds, vegan radicals and backslidden meateaters. they are all the colors and all the possible sexes, they are glide memorial and anarchy now. I have a wee cutie almost 4 now. she's truly the apple of my eye and my reason for living. good food and good drink with good friends s'what i like. a little buddhist literature in between the phd junk. far too few good films these days. once in a while a surf trip back to hawaii, a drive to pleasure point to hang with the sc locals and try to get in on their action.

hand-shadows on the wall

Even the most solid of things, and the most real, the best-loved and the well-known, are only hand-shadows on the wall. Empty space and points of light.

Winterson

I have never recognised the past as a document, rather I understand it as a kind of lumber room, full of trunks of old clothes and odd mementoes. There are as many narratives as there are guesses.
