TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC

About Me

Trip the Light Fantastic: “To move in a pattern to or with musical accompaniment”. In a world of infinite possibilities, David Balaam, Joseph Yohann, and Tyler Pratt seek to take their listeners into the realm of new horizons.Playing together in different groups for a combined 7 years, these young musicians have already had their share of experience in the Northwest music scene. Both Joseph and Tyler were guitarists for Cake Records’ recording artist, Weather. Starting right out of high school, they toured the west coast, opening for such acts as The Presidents of the United States of America and The Posies. After Weather’s demise in 2006, the pair hooked up with childhood friend David Balaam (Hang). After playing for only a few short months, Trip the Light Fantastic was recording at Spectre Studios with long time friend Zach Varnell. Finished in only 7 days and mastered by Troy Glessner (Pedro the Lion, The Divorce, Mewithoutyou). The self-titled, instrumental record combines guitar, bass, and drums with sampling techniques. This record is sure to illustrate a picture in your mind, completely unique to each one of its listeners. Trip the Light Fantastic’s debut album sounds as if Neil Young, Radiohead, and At.The.Drive.In were all part of the same band. These guys will let you know exactly how they feel about things, and they won’t even say a word........................................................ ............................................................ . " (Trip the Light Fantastic), is an instrumental experiment of brainy rock seemingly created for the dirt under the fingernails crowd-" - MATT DRISCOL, WEEKLY VOLCANO..................................................... ........................................... " TRIP THE LIGHT FANTASTIC PLAY INTRIGUING INSTRUMENTALS. BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENTALS, REALLY, WITH A SEATTLE-CIRCA-1999 SOUND. THINK WORDLESS WAXWING, THINK JUNO'S EARLY TURBULENT STUFF-THINK EPIC BREAKDOWNS ECHOING FROM SIT & SPIN'S SHOWROOM WHILE YOU'RE STUPIDLY IN FRONT ROOM PLAYING SORRY WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND EATING PIZZA. THIS IS WORTH LEAVING THE SORRY GAME TO SEE, EVEN IF YOUR AHEAD." - MEGAN SELLING, THE STRANGER
