Last of the Bohemians gets 4/5 Stars!
"The music and songwriting is wonderful. I enjoyed the depth of the music and the eclectic sounds!!"
~ Darryl Salach of Target Audience Magazine gives Last of the Bohemians 4/5 Stars.
Ciara Adams has made some bold choices in the last few years, well on her way to an outstanding career in Jazz, she decided she wanted to start writing her own tunes, so she got busy and the results are totally Decadent Rare- a fitting name for her band and the label she started in 2005 which boasts over 15,000 in sales from her first record. We love the internet for helping us get the music to the fans!
Ciara Adams is a charismatic and versatile performer with incredible vocal prowess, with a 4.5 OCTAVE RANGE!!!!! Her background in opera and cabaret, and her soul for jazz all combine to create a delectably original result. Her new record, Last of the Bohemians, produced by Tim Abraham at the Hive Studios in Toronto, combines her love for cabaret, with an influence of pop, electronica, and contemporary groove creating a captivatingly original style. With stunning original tracks like The Playboy of the Western World and Last of the Bohemians, Ciara has captured an imaginative world where traditional folk based melodies mix with outstanding instrumental arrangements and moving rhythms. With performances by some of Canada's leading musicians, including Davide Direnzo, Alexis Baro, Marc Rogers, Arthur Kerekes, and Dave Gouveia, arrangements by Mike Janzen, and beatz by Alister Johnson, this record is outstanding.
Born and raised in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Canada, Ciara studied opera at Queen’s University before heading off to London, England to attend the famed Guildhall School of Music and Drama when she was 22. After graduating her Irish passport allowed her to spend a number of years in the U.K. working as a professional actor and singer, most notably with the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. During this time Ciara was also the lead singer for trip-hop outfit Kymera, playing all the London Clubs.
Ciara wasted no time after she moved back to Canada releasing her first solo record Ciara Adams Live at Le Select Bistro in 2005. This record made it’s way onto international charts in Portugal and Japan, and has sold thousands online. Ciara is also a member of the avant-garde 'punk-circus' theatre collective, bluemouth inc., based in Toronto and New York. This lifestyle has influenced Ciara’s music and taste, as celebrated in the title track from her new record Last of the Bohemians.
“This eclectic mix of music has the power to transport you back in time -- while simultaneously moving you into the future -- with its classic song styles, laced in contemporary groove.”
