About Me

Releases:
"This Life" - Album 2005
"Then and Now" - Album 2007
Phil Edgeley is an English born singer/songwriter based on the Central Coast of New South Wales in Australia. Phil plays slide and fingerstyle guitar and has developed a live performance style that is both dynamic & intense.
His songs tell of the joy and the pain of what life brings and takes away. They are direct and stripped bare to reveal the plain truths as he see’s them. Studies and observations that are both incisive and lyrical.
Phil recorded his debut cd "This Life" in 2005. It contained twelve all original compositions and he promoted that throughout Sydney, Newcastle and theCentral Coast, and further into Northern NSW and Queensland. Playing the pubs, clubs and festival circuits, supporting local and internationalartists.
Two years on and Phil is back with his latest release "Then and Now".
Created at Point Studios on the Central Coast Then and Now features ten new songs.
Since the release of his first cd, "This Life". Phils songwriting has matured and distilled, the new songs are more emotive and there is more definition inthe production.
Phil is well supported by a crew of talented musicians including... Michael King on guitar, harmonica meastro - Christian Marsh, Beatworld percussionist -Murray Campbell, bassplayer - Paul Rutter and Producer - Roni Francois on bass, keyboards and drums. Over the six months taken to record "Then and Now" an eclectic polyrythmic style was created that set up Phil’s guitar playing and adds support to the lyricsof the stories he tells.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members:
Influences: All of the old Delta Blues guys for starters. Then on to quite a variation of both older and more recent stuff such as Richard Thompson,Kelly Joe Phelps, Bob Brozman, Chris Whitley, Jeff Lang, The Waterboys, Counting Crows, Ben Harper, Tom Waits, Luka Bloom, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Gary Moore, Bob Dylan, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas...

I could go on but I think the common thread is that I like good musicianship and meaningfull lyrics and most of all downright, pure emotion conveyed through music
Sounds Like: I have been compared to the likes of Paul Kelly, Jeff Lang, John Butler, Xavier Rudd, Ben Harper and Chris Whitley.

All I can say to the people that have drawn these conclusions is

...Wow, thanks!!
