Mark Shimmin

Hello,Here's a little bit about me I am a musician living in the Isle of Man. I'm married to Stella who is also my best friend. I have twin daughters, Rebecca and Lucah who are now 12. Recently Stella and I had a son, Theodore, who sadly died at birth.Professionally, I am currently training to become a social worker, although of course I also aspire to making music but never seem to get enough time.I've been making music since the late 80's. I was in a band called El Guapo that did mostly covers, which became a source of frustration to me. More recently I was in a group mixing Manx traditional music with rock and jazz called Shenne Skeeal, but work pressure led to me giving that up last year. When I get time I would like to write more songs and record more music.I have such a diverse range of influences that it would be futile to make a list. Basically I like close vocal harmonies, jazz-rock fusion and catchy tunes - though my own music doesn't seem to reflect that. Lately what I would like to aspire to most is originality - but I need to find my own niche in that respect. Everything I do is so different, but who cares, I enjoy it! It would be nice if one day other people did too.....and maybe even Stella.
