I'm Herman. I live in Skien. My main hobby is music, I play mostly the guitar and bass, I can also play some keyboards and drums, though not very good, and I enjoy singing and growling.
Mortiferia is my band, in this band I play bass, write about half of the lyrics and a third of the music. We play symphonic metal with some elements from other genres, like folk, doom, power and black metal, and some more chilly songs. Me and 2 of the other members also had a black/folk metal band called Sectum, but after people left or were kicked from both bands, we ended up fusing Sectum into Mortiferia, abandoning the Sectum name and logo, but keeping the songs, as it would be a shame to waste the good material. We did some changes on the vocal lines and drum patterns, but the songs didn't sound as good as they originally were, so now, 1,5 years later we are recording an album with all the 9 Sectum songs. It's not finished yet though. We might even do some live shows again, we'll see!
I was also a member of Ørkenkjøtt for a little over a year. I joined in March 2006, when the band was almost new, and played with them until April 2007, when I had to make a choice between them and Mortiferia. I've had many great experiences with Ørkenkjøtt, they are great guys and good friends. :)
I've also had plans of a solo project for a long time, but I've ended up using most of the songs and themes in Mortiferia and Sectum, so I guess it's on hold until further notice.
I really like to write lyrics, you can express anything you like. I like to write about many things, feelings, spirituality, occultism, dreams, mysteries, philosophy, mythology, battles, stories, nature, and things like that! I also like to write short stories, movie scripts, poems and articles that make people think. Perhaps I should write a book or 4 sometime?
I listen to nearly all genres of music (some exceptions are country, dancebands, soul, punk), but it's mostly metal and ambient I listen to. I especially love the gothic metal bands from western Norway, I think that genre is fantastic. I won't list all the bands and artists I like though, that would make a very long list!
