" Big Nash" born Marcus Nash, is one the realest rappers on the West coast. Nash grew up in the harsh realities of Watts, in the Jordan Downs housing projects. every since Nash was a little kid he always felt that he would be a basketball palyer, writer or actor. he was just a natural. says his mom,"he was a busy little kid ,always getting into something and always entertaining." Although the gang life existed all around Nash ,he was focused on basketball and acting."the invitation to gang bang was always there, but my mom kept a tight leash on me. alot of my good freinds I grew up with are dead or in jail, and that was something I wanted know part of" finally in the summer of 1987 his mom was transfered to the San fernando Valley (North Hollywood). that was a challenge for him."I had only lived in one area my whole life and that was Watts. I was not used to this unfamiliar enviroment. I never wanted to leave Watts, but it turned out to be the best thing for me. I seen many people in my family abuse crack , sherm (pcp) , alchohol, etc. and on top of that my Dad left us and my grandma died". once he got used to the Valley he started playing HS basketball his junior year. he eventually became real good and was able to help his team capture a City Title at NHHS( huskies). He was then later enrolled into drama and became shocked the first day of school as he sat next to "Dudley" aka Shavar Ross from his favorite tv show "Different Strokes". "that was crazy to me at the time". eventually, they became good freinds and Shavar is still one of his best freinds to date. "my music reflects the harsh realities of my life and situations, good and bad I've experienced".
