About Me

Check out this video: O Choro de Juliana by Marco Pereira
Alan Nguyen picked up the guitar at age 10 though he considered it nothing more than a pastime. It was in highschool that he would dedicate himself fully to the instrument and expand his repetoire into the realm of classical music. At age 15 he studied at Southeast High School under the direction of Joe Downs. During his time with Downs he would play with the Gulf Coast Guitar Quartet--comprised entirely of fellow high school students--also going on to record a CD with the quartet.Alan continued his music education at Manatee Community College (MCC) where his playing matured and evolved under the guidance of Professor Rex Willis. While attending MCC Alan won the FCCAA Student Artist Competition and was chosen to perform a showcase concert at the Miami International Guitar Festival. Following MCC Alan was accepted at the University of Miami where he is currently studying under the tutelage of Dr. Rene Gonzalez.
