I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

Hi! My name is Sarah Bishop and I started up this Myspace page to let people know about a little adventure that I completed this year where I walked from Brisbane to Sydney to raise awareness of climate change. The project was titled One Giant Walk and was an overwhelming success. I spoke to thousands of people along the way and gained extensive media coverage for the issue that involved several newspaper articles - including the front page of The Sydney Morning Herald, radio interviews including an in-studio appearance on Triple J with Robbie Buck, magazine articles in The Women's Weekly and Who Weekly, and extensive television coverage including appearances on The Today Show and The Catch-Up. There was also international coverage extending to the BBC and Al-Jazeera! The walk was topped off by Earth Hour in Sydney in which millions of people turned out their lights to symbolise their concern for climate change. As an ambassador for this event I was required to give a speech at the official Earth Hour function which was attended by Cate Blanchett and several other prominent business leaders, and media, sports and entertainment personalities. I would especially like to thank WWF (www.wwf.org.au) for all of their support - and to all of you who sent me messages and comments of love and support! I am now planning to continue my work as a climate change spokesperson by promoting the issue through media, writing, television and public speaking. I have also set up a business where I work with businesses, schools and government to implement further climate change projects and initiatives. Update: As of November 2007 I am now running in the election as a Senate candidate for the Climate Change Coalition in WA.
